Trip to Snowhill

Kendoka
Sorry this is a bit late. I shall be at the cardiff railway station at 1000hrs new time (ie remember the clocks go back an hour tonight). At the front of the station, opposite the bus station. Then we get on motorway, pick up Shaun at 1100hrs, our Bulgarian friend at Pershore and hopefully arrive at Snowhill at about 1230hrs.

Mid-Term break

Kendoka
There will be no practice on Tues 28th October as the school will be closed for the mid-term break. There will probably be a trip over to Bristol or up to Cheltenham.

Frank

A BIG PS.... We need to know numbers for the trip to Snowhill and also a show of hands for the Rugby match. Rhys has got us 10 great tickets/seats at £16 each so first come first served.

Club visit to Snowhill Manor - Great collection of Japanese Armour

KENDOKA
We are arranging an outing to Snowhill Manor, Sunday 26th Oct. The idea is to hire a minibus, have a big breakfast, leaving Cardiff at 1000-1030hrs, arriving at Snowhill as it opens at 1200hrs. Then into the restaurant (or pub around corner). Shaun reckons the club should pay for everything (entrance fee £7) except the meals. We need to have an idea of numbers committed to going. We will also make an announcement on Tues but think about it before then. From what I have heard this is a great place for Japanese armour, might even see if they will give me a job restoring some of it.....I wish.

Frank

Ps. If anyone knows of a mini bus hire company around Cardiff let Mark know. Thanks

Support for Ian Parker-Dodd resolutions

Kendoka
Shaun has asked me to copy you all in on Ian's email. Shaun has already indicated that he would like all club members to respond and support the call for an EGM. I would certainly urge you all to support Ian and email him as requested. See Ian's message below

From: giparkerdodd@btopenworld.com
Subject: Resolutions and Call for EGM

Dear All

I am sorry not to be able to address you individually by name but there are quite a lot of you.

I am writing to you to ask for your support by seconding the resolutions in the attached document.

I have been loath to take the step of calling for an EGM and it is with a fair degree of sadness that I do so because in the past the people identified have done much to maintain the Association in this country. The issues in my perception are so serious that I find I am unable to walk away from what I perceive to be the serious indifference to the constitution and the concept of Natural Justice. I believe that indifference must be challenged and I perceived the people identified as those who have, at the very least, allowed it to happen.

I have put a personal statement on the resolutions giving my reasons for asking for an EGM.

You have indicated your support in some way previously. Now is an opportunity to do so publicly and I sincerely hope you feel able to do this. One seconder for the motions is all that is actually required but I feel the more there are the better.

I would ask you please if you feel you are able to give your support to the resolutions please e-mail me with your name and BKA number within the next seven days.

I intend to contact all other dojo leader in order to get the number of signatures necessary and forward the request for a EGM to the Executive Committee so if you are a dojo leader of a registered dojo and support the call for an EGM can you please indicate this as well so that I can build that list as a third of all BKA dojo leaders’ signatures are necessary to call an EGM.

Once an EGM is called a two-thirds majority of people present and voting has to be obtained for the first motion to be carried so ‘bums on seats’ are required which is why I have asked for the meeting to be at a time and place favourable to as many people as possible.

If you know of others who agree with this initiative please fell free to show them the resolutions and give them my e-mail address.

Yours truly,

Ian Parker Dodd

Akai Ryuu outing to Rugby match with Matsumoto sensei

Matsumoto sensei has got back to Rhys about seeing a rugby game and would like to see the Wales vs. Canada match at the Millennium on Friday 14th November. Kick-off is at 1930hrs so we would all need to meet at the gate about 1830hrs for all the pre game atmosphere. Yours truly will already be firmly esconced in a nearby pub by then.
Tickets should be about £25-30, and Rhys will try to get us good seats at around this price. This is a good chance for a night out with the club members so try to make it if you can. Should be a great night out. Certainly time for a few drinks afterwards. I shall be using the rail, bit unfortunate I don't qualify for a rail pass just yet!!
Rhys is paying for the tickets on credit card, so once you commit to go you owe rhys the money whether you have to call off or not. Rhys needs to buy the tickets ASAP to enable us to get a row of seats together so please contact him soon.
I will ask Shaun to mention it at Tues practice.
